A ball screw is a screw/nut drive system that utilizes a number of small balls. High efficiency screws afford the opportunity to displace loads by transforming rotary action into linear motion. The high efficiency screws have rolling elements, balls or rollers, between the nut and the screw shaft. Ball screw jacks are more efficient and therefore require less power than a machine screw jack in the same application. Another advantage is that ballscrews lend themselves well to the elimination of backlash in a system.
