Electrical bushings are insulating structures, generally of porcelain and conical or cylindrical in shape, having a central conductor and provisions for mounting on a piece of equipment or wall. They insulate the conductor and permit carrying current through a grounded barrier, such as a transformer tank, circuit breaker, or building wall.Mechanical bushings are components consisting of a cylinder with a hole. A bushing fits into a bore and provides strength, wear resistance, lubrication or precision size and shape for components that are assembled with pins, shafts or bolts. Many bushings are press fit into structures and can be replaced after wear without requiring replacement of the entire structure.
