High-Purity Alumina Designed for Semiconductor, Electronics, and Optical Applications

SAN FRANCISCO, Calif.--PlasmaPure-UCTM alumina from CoorsTek is reported to offer exceptionally high purity along with high etch resistance in corrosive chemistries, very low sodium content, and an extremely low dielectric loss tangent of <0.00002. Designed specifically for extreme-duty semiconductor applications, the fine-grained material provides corrosion resistance four times greater, and sodium content six times lower than competitive alumina materials, according to the company. CoorsTek officially released the ultra-high-purity ceramic material this summer at Semicon West 2008.
"Outstanding material property data and very positive customer trials have proven the material quite effective at extending component life and greatly reducing contamination," said Mark Petty, executive vice president of CoorsTek, Inc., in a written statement. "This material is an excellent example of the advanced capabilities offered by our Specialty Materials Center, announced last year."
CoorsTek supplies critical components and assemblies for medical, automotive, semiconductor, aerospace, electronic, power generation, telecommunication, and other high-technology applications. For further information, visit www.coorstek.com.
