Honeycomb Assemblies

OEMs and jobshops are well aware of the financial and manufacturing efficiency benefits of combining individual parts into integrated assemblies whenever possible. Lower costs and easier to control specifications for outsourcing are just two of the advantages available.

Honeycomb is a cellular material (similar in appearance to sections of a beehive) used in aerospace, automotive, recreational, and industrial applications, primarily in "sandwich structures" (e.g. aircraft floor panels) and shaped parts requiring a high strength-to-weight ratio. Materials used include aramid paper, aluminum, fiberglass, carbon fabric, and stainless steel. KEYWORDS for this process: assembly.
