Blasting is a finishing method of cleaning or surface roughening by a forcibly projected stream of sharp angular abrasive. Two common types are:
- Baking Soda Blast cleaning is a USDA-approved A1 cleaner which enables a gentle "scour" without impacting material thickness or surface condition. It is an ideal process for pre-treatment prior to passivation of stainless steel and for thorough cleaning of surface corrosion, grease, oils, paint and other films from non-ferrous parts.
- Glass Bead Blast produces a clean uniform satin-like finish. This process.is selected for surface improvements, deburring, as a pre-plating function, to generate an anchor finish (surface preparation for coatings, etc.) and to remove tight mill scale. It is also ideal for removing weld spatter, weld discoloration, and for blending surface irregularities. Food Processing Equipment Manufacturers often select this finish as a cost-effective alternative to polishing stainless steel.
