Embedded Devices

An embedded device is defined as a microprocessor-based piece of equipment used to control the operation of plant, machinery and equipment.

The term 'embedded' is applicable whenever micro-computer systems are integrated into other, larger systems. These larger systems can be computers themselfes (e.g. the micro-controller on your PC's video card) or any other devices where the integration of computing power is advantageous.
