Double Disc Grinding

Grinding is a process in which small abrasive particles imbedded in a grinding wheel, belt, cylinder, or stone accomplish material removal. Grinding is ordinarily used only for removing small amounts of material at a time. Grinding permits very accurate tolerances of 0.001" or less, and allows for very smooth surface finishes.

Double Disc Grinding is the grinding of two surfaces at the same time in one machine. The two abrasive discs are opposed and the workpieces are fed between the discs to grind parallel surfaces simultaneously. Double disc gringers are manufactured in both vertical and horizontal types. The majority of double disc grinders are involved with workpieces for which equal or semiequal metal removal is required on two parallel, external surfaces. KEYWORDS for this process: grinders
