FLORHAM PARK, N.J.–A new flexible cable suited for drives, motors, and assemblies in high horsepower applications is available from the Lapp Group USA. The company reports that its new Ölflex® VFD 2XL symmetrical motor and drive cable can be used in high horsepower applications that include pumps, compressors, conveyors, elevators, and extruders, among others. The large-gauge cable, rated for voltages as high as 2,000 V, offers three symmetrical grounds and a helical copper tape shield.

Lapp Group (lappusa.com) describes the flexible cable as a robust, oil- and UV-resistant cable that delivers a minimum bend radius of 15 x cable diameter. The cable is also said to offer a low-capacitance design, a test voltage of 6000 V, and class B stranded wire conductors.

The cable's construction includes bare stranded copper conductors, XLPE plus insulation, three bare stranded copper grounds, and the helical copper tape shielding. A specially-formulated black thermoplastic elastomer jacket is reported to provide extended temperature resistance from -40°C to +105°C for stationary use and -25°C to +105°C for flexible use.

The cable is reported to meet a number of key approvals, including CE (50V – 1kV),  RoHS, and UL Oil Res I/II.
