HOUSTON—The Flexitallic Group, an international manufacturer and supplier of industrial static sealing products, recently announced the upgrade of its U.S.-standard graphite material to Flexicarb SEL.
Flexitallic is the first industrial sealing manufacturer to commit to standardize on a higher grade of graphite, according to company representatives. Compared with traditional graphite materials, Flexicarb SEL is reported to deliver more than 50 percent improvement in oxidation resistance. The consistently lower sulfur and heavy metals of this sealing material is expected to positively impact the long-term sealing and continued integrity of graphite material, therefore improving customer operations.
Although it is often the smallest spend in the bolted connection, quality gaskets can provide the highest rate of return for customers in improved performance. The combination of Flexitallic's installation training and application engineering efforts makes gaskets a competitive advantage for customers looking to reduce emissions and meet extended duty cycles.
"The introduction of this new standard graphite in the U.S. demonstrates Flexitallic's commitment to providing a safe environment at the bolted connection," said Jerry L. Lastovica, president of Flexitallic, in a press release. "This product upgrade is part of our dedication to innovation, ensuring that we provide our customers with the best sealing materials to solve their most demanding needs."
Flexicarb SEL will be utilized in the United States for all Flexitallic standard and special spiral-wound gaskets and kammprofiles. Flexitallic now integrates this material into its manufacturing operations in Houston and expects full integration by the end of 2015.
The Flexitallic Group (www.flexitallic.com), headquartered in Houston, comprises a global network of manufacturing facilities, manufacturing licensees, and a distribution network that includes more than 750 distributors in 30 countries to ensure that local demand is met quickly.
