Photofabrication Engineering Receives ITAR Certification

Photochemical Etching

MILFORD, Mass.--Photofabrication Engineering, Inc. (PEI), of Milford, Mass., has been registered as a manufacturer and granted certification by the United States Department of State, Bureau of Political-Military Affairs, under ITAR (the International Traffic in Arms Regulation). The ITAR certification allows PEI, a manufacturer of photochemically etched metal parts and components, to provide weapon systems components and accessories in accordance with the Code of Federal Regulations implemented by the Department of State. In a recent statement from PEI, the company said that the certification reflects "Photofabrication Engineering's ongoing commitment to meeting the highest quality and manufacturing standards for both the domestic and international marketplace."

The company was also recently awarded certification under AS9100, quality standards established by the aircraft and aerospace industry. These high global quality standards were published by the SAE (Society of Automotive Engineers) in cooperation with the AAQG and with input from ANAB and IAAR (the Independent Association of Accredited Registrars). Photofabrication Engineering can now be found on OASIS—the On-line Aerospace Supplier Information System--and is subject to continual audits by the NQA; results of these audits are reported on OASIS.

In addition, PEI (www.photofabrication.com) meets the manufacturing and equipment standards specified by MIL-STD-45662 and the statistical sampling standards specified by MIL-STD-105. According to PEI, the demanding quality control regimens and systems evidenced by its receipt of these certifications bring the company closer to future goals of attaining certifications such as ISO/TS16949 (Automotive Standard) and ISO 13485 (Medical Standard).

Photofabrication Engineering specializes in photochemically etching metal parts for the aerospace, automotive, medical  and electrical/electronics industries. The company says that it can etch intricate parts in almost any metal, from aluminum to zirconium.
