This technical information has been contributed by BRISTOL, Va.—Strongwell Corporation was recently recognized by the Southwest Virginia Technology Council for its overall achievements in advanced manufacturing in the southwest Virginia region. The company, a pultruder of fiber reinforced polymers (FRP), was named winner of the “Advanced Manufacturing of the Year” award.

Strongwell is actively involved in numerous efforts to promote the advancement of manufacturing and manufacturing careers. The company’s participation includes involvement in such efforts as the Institute for Advanced Manufacturing Innovation (IACMI), a multi-year $250 MM domestic public-private partnership to create product and employment growth in advanced composite manufacturing. Strongwell is also involved in the ongoing promotion of science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) education.
David Ring accepted the award on behalf of Strongwell. In his remarks, he stated, “To be an advanced manufacturer requires a team of committed people, as well as a leadership team dedicated to the success and advancement of its products and its employees.”
Strongwell (strongwell.com) has pultrusion manufacturing facilities in Bristol, Va., Washington County, Va., and Chatfield, Minnesota. Its products include structural shapes, grating, handrail, structural building panels, and decking systems, as well as composite armor, ladder rail, and OEM products for diverse customers.
