MAHWAH, N.J.—TAM Metal Products, a manufacturer of metal products and mechanical assemblies primarily for the defense, aerospace, and medical industries, has purchased a Mitsubishi eX-S CO2 laser cutting machine that the company called a major investment in its ability to perform its demanding work more quickly and resource-efficiently.
“The Mitsubishi laser addition makes us a more productive company,” said Ed Day, operations manager at TAM Metal Products, in a press release. “I’ve worked with the top laser machines in the industry over the past 15 years, and have come to appreciate the quality behind Mitsubishi. That’s why we chose the eX-S. The machine eliminates both setup and finishing steps required with some of our other machines, saving time and improving quality along the way.”
The new machine includes Mitsubishi’s patented three-axis, cross-flow resonator design that is said to deliver “the highest cutting power per watt available.” A simplified resonator design eliminates the need for expensive quartz tubes and turbine blower systems, optimizes cutting power, and is reported to require two to five times less maintenance than other laser equipment on the market. The machine’s compact design provides a small footprint without reducing table size.
“Our eX series combines ease of operability, faster cutting, upgradable automation, and eco-friendly, cost-saving features,” said Jeff Hahn, national product manager at MC Machinery Systems, a subsidiary of Mitsubishi, in the release. “It’s a smart choice for small job shops or high volume production facilities.”
The machine delivers low running costs and eco-friendly features for power and gas consumption, and stable operation for greater productivity. Its ECO mode is said to cut running costs by up to 90 percent during standby, and carbon dioxide emissions are reduced by about 30 percent compared to competitor machines, according to the manufacturer.
Founded in 1958, TAM Metal Products (tam-ind.com) is an ISO-9001:2000 and AS9100:2004 certified company that provides complex metal parts to some of the biggest companies in the world. The company has achieved Certified Supplier status with many of the biggest global brands in aerospace, defense, and telecom.
