SUTTON, Mass.--Interstate Specialty Products, Inc., of Sutton, Massachusetts, recently announced that it is offering a digital die-less cutting service for high-precision, non-metallic parts. In addition to eliminating tooling charges, the service is said to speed turnaround and permit multiple "on the fly" part modifications for rapid prototyping. Interstate's Digital Die-Less Cutting Service is particularly suited for parts with intricate shapes, including narrow cross sections and close hole spacing in sizes from under 1 inch square up to 60 inches x 120 inches, with ±0.005-inch tolerances, depending upon material. It can be used to cut plastics, rubbers, membranes, foams, felt, and composites.
According to the company, the digital die-less cutting service produces smoother edges than compression-cut parts, and is performed in a clean practice, positive pressure facility. Customers send or specify the materials to be cut, submit a DWF, PDF, or nearly any drawing file, and will typically receive parts for approval within two to three days, the company says. The services are priced according to part complexity, material, and quantity. Quotations are provided within 24 hours.
