Peridot Precision Manufacturing
Parts Maker is Key Supplier to Multiple High-Tech Markets
PLEASANTON, Calif.--With access to a vast array of equipment and processes, Peridot Precision Manufacturing can handle multiple manufacturing challenges at its facility in Pleasanton, California. High-precision medical work is the company's calling card and major marketplace, but Peridot also produces high-tech parts and components for telecommunications, electronics, and instrumentation equipment. The company's capabilities for these and other applications were on display recently at the Santa Clara Design-2-Part Show, held in May at the Santa Clara Convention Center.
According to Peridot Vice President of Marketing and Sales Debra Van Sickle, telecommunication parts and components make up about 12 percent of the company's workload. Some of these parts, she says, are used for testing equipment. Much of Peridot's work for the electronics field is designed for RF/EMI shielding, battery contacts, and high-tech assemblies that go into communication devices. The company utilizes a Class 10,000 clean room for this type of assembly. Circuit boards and other components are first purchased from outside vendors, and then installed into suitable enclosures.
"The contract manufacturer is responsible for all components and the final assembly," Peridot President Patrick Pickerell told D2P Magazine recently. "Early supplier involvement with the customer's engineering team, in discussions of operating environment and performance expectations, is critical to a successful relationship. Peridot's multi-disciplinary manufacturing expertise and materials knowledge streamlines this process. Contract manufacturers (CMs) who rely heavily on numerous outside suppliers are often hampered by quality and delivery problems. Peridot is unique amongst CMs, as we have more machining and fabrication capabilities in house as opposed to the competition."
Peridot (www.peridotcorp.com) maintains an equipment arsenal that includes a new Mori Seiki Model NL-2000, CNC multi-axis milling and turning center. In addition to CNC milling and turning, the company provides Swiss screw machining, wire EDM, and laser processing services, as well as spring manufacturing, wire and metal forming, metal stamping, and soldering. Prototype building, tool and die making, wire harness installation, and electro-mechanical assembly are also offered, along with services that include bead and sand blasting, brazing, centerless grinding, bending and forming, electro-polishing, and tube bending.
