Rubber Molding Applications

Rubber Molding: O-Rings

O-rings are solid-rubber seals that are shaped like a doughnut. When pressed between two mating surfaces, O-rings block the passage of liquids or gases. O-rings can form static or dynamic seals. A static seal is where the O-ring does not move and is used simply for containing pressure or maintaining a vacuum. Dynamic seals can be reciprocating (like a piston and cylinder), or rotating (shaft rotating in a housing).

Some materials used in molding o-rings:
  • Aegis ®
  • Buna-N (Nitrile)
  • Epichlorohydrin
  • Fluorocarbon
  • Hypalon ®
  • Natural Rubber
  • Polyacrylate
  • Silicone
  • Teflon (Virgin)
  • Thermoplastic
  • Aflas ®
  • Butyl
  • Ethylene-Propylene
  • Fluorosilicone
  • Kalrez ®
  • Neoprene ® (Chloroprene)
  • Polyurethane
  • Styrene Butadiene
  • Teflon Encapsulated
  • Vlton ®

Oil Seals
Rubber Molding - Oil Seals Oil Seals are high quality rotary shaft seals available in a broad range of sizes (hundreds of standard and non-standard sizes in both inches and metric) and styles. Look for Oil Seals that are manufactured with a precision, knife-trimmed sealing lip to provide the highest level of integrity. In addition to interchange sizes with CR (Chicago Rawhide), NOK, and National (Federal Mogal), capabilities exist for special Oil Seal designs and materials for any application.

Hydraulic/Pneumatic Seals
Rubber Molding - Hydraulic and Pneumatic Seals Hydraulic seals and pneumatic seals include piston seals, rod seals, U-cups, vee, cup, W, piston, and flange packings. Hydraulic seals and pneumatic seals are designed for the reciprocating motion that is common in hydraulic and pneumatic applications, such as cylinders. Hydraulic seals are designed for high-pressure dynamic applications such as hydraulic cylinders. Pneumatic seals are used in pneumatic cylinders and valves and generally are designed for lower operating pressures than hydraulic seals.

Some types of molded hydraulic and pneumatic seals:

  • Polyseals/Polypaks
  • T-Seals
  • V-Rings And Sets
  • Spring Loaded Lip Seals
  • U-Cups
  • Wipers (Canned And Rubber)
  • Quad Seals
  • Wear Guides

Custom Molded Rubber
Rubber Molding - Custom Molded Custom rubber molded parts can be supplied to your specifications, and in some cases, from your existing part. Capabilities range from non-critical designs to the toughest tight tolerance requirements in the industry. These products are available in a wide range of material combinations to handle most applications.

Examples of custom rubber molded parts:

  • Tight Tolerance Parts
  • Rubber To Teflon
  • Face Seals
  • Sheet Stock
  • Thermoplastic
  • Rubber To Metal
  • Diaphragms
  • Non-Standard O-Rings
  • Extrusions
