LAKE ZURICH, Ill.—Smalley Steel Ring Co. recently announced that it has received General Motors' prestigious GM Suppler Quality Excellence award for the second consecutive year.

It is also the second year that GM is honoring suppliers "who are making noteworthy contributions to GM's goal of providing the best overall customer experience in the automotive industry," according to a release from GM. Last fall, GM recognized 801 suppliers who demonstrated "the highest levels of quality performance" during the past 12 months.

"Reaching our goal to be the world's benchmark for quality won't happen by chance, and suppliers play a vitally important role," said GM's Grace Lieblein, vice president, Global Purchasing and Supply Chain, in a statement. "Each winning company has consistently exceeded our expectations by delivering high-quality products on time, which helps us create compelling value for our customers."
