A servomotor (servo) is an electromechanical device in which an electrical input determines the position of the armature of a motor. Servos are motors used for motion control in robots, computer hard drives, etc. Generally designed more like an alternator than a standard motor, most Servos need special control circuitry to make them rotate electrically. Some can be used in reverse to generate alternating current.
