Timing Pulleys & Belts

Timing pulleys and belts is a specific class of pulleys and belts that contain toothed members similar to spur gears. The teeth on the belt mesh with the teeth on the pulley providing for a positive, non slip rotational drive system. Because of the toothed nature of the components specific reduction ratios can be obtained along with increased power torque ratings over non toothed pulleys and belts. Timing pulleys allow for a large amount of design flexibility. Unlike spur gears where teeth have to contact to transmit rotation and load a flexible toothed belt transmits the speed and load from one pulley to the next allowing for a large variation in component sizing and positioning while maintaining ratio and power. KEYWORDS for this category: components, synchronous timing pulley, toothed belts, timing pulley
